hey there.

My name is Jess. I’m a Believer. I’m a wife. I’m a mom. I was a therapist, but carry everything that it means to be empathetic, attuned, and containing with me in my life.

I love to write. Every once in a while it’s poetry, most of the time it’s what I would call a soliloquy. I’ve had a blog since I was 18, but that blog is a different part of my story. This website is to curate my thoughts together into one place. It’s to share solutions, problems, and life together. I will post affiliate links to products, but please read my Affiliate Marketing Statement before engaging with these, if you can.

Fountains in the way is based off of a poem by Amy Carmichael. I found this poem my sophomore year of college when my college choir sang a rendition of it. Two years later, my sister spoke the words of Isaiah 43:18-19 over me,

“Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert.”

I slowly began to live into that promise, that God would make me new as he promised. And he did. He still is. But when I was still in the depths, still sitting in so much pain, I was reminded of this poem by Amy Carmichael.

Before the winds that blow do cease,
Teach me to dwell within Thy calm;
Before the pain has passed in peace,
Give me, my God, to sing a psalm,
Let me not lose the chance to prove
The fulness of enabling love,
O Love of God, do this for me;
Maintain a constant victory.

Before I leave the desert land
For meadows of immortal flowers,
Lead me where streams at Thy command
Flow by the borders of the hours,
That when the thirsty come, I may
Show them the fountains in the way.
O Love of God, do this for me;
Maintain a constant victory.

I clung to it. Deep down, I did not want to leave the desert until God could show me and use me to show others the fountains that were coming from this desert place.

So if you are in the desert, or here to celebrate finally seeing a fountain, please stay. Take what you can, anything I have to give, mainly anything God can use me for in your life, its already yours.

I can say in truth, and also in peace, that God has truly made rivers in the deserts of my life, and I pray the same for you.

Little by little, I hope to share some of those stories, some of those truths with you.

If I’ve caught your attention, I’d love to see you here again, if you could subscribe for my next post.
